Time to Wake Up...

This Sunday, I want to speak directly to your heart. Not the polite, church-on-Sunday heart that smiles and shakes hands, but the heart that beats quietly when no one’s looking — the one that knows the truth about where you really are with God.

Let’s be honest: too many of us have gotten comfortable with a lukewarm faith. We say we love Jesus, but we live like He’s optional. We pray when it’s convenient, serve when it fits our schedule, and forgive when it’s easy. But deep down, we know this   isn’t what discipleship looks like. Jesus didn’t climb Calvary to make us comfortable — He died to make us holy.

The time for half-hearted faith is over. Every day, we see a world spinning further away from God — families divided, truth twisted, love replaced with noise and distraction. And yet, so many of us are sleepwalking through our faith, as if there’s always going to be more time. But brothers and sisters, there isn’t. Life is fragile. Eternity is real. And one day, each of us will stand before Jesus — not as an idea or a story, but as the living God who sees everything we’ve done and everything we’ve ignored.

When He looks into your eyes, what will He see? Will He see a soul that fought to love, to forgive, to trust —  or a soul that kept saying “tomorrow”? Because tomorrow is not promised. Today is the day of conversion. Today is the day to fall on our knees and say, “Lord, I’m done living halfway. I want all of You — take all of me.”

Jesus isn’t calling you to be good; He’s calling you to be His. That means sacrifice. That means          obedience. That means carrying a cross when it’s heavy and still choosing love. And when you fail — because we all do — it means getting back up, again and again, with your eyes fixed on the One who never gave up on you.

If we truly believed what happens at this altar — that the Son of God gives Himself to us, body and blood, soul and divinity — we would fall on our faces in awe. We wouldn’t rush through Mass or check our watches. We would tremble with gratitude that Heaven meets earth right before our eyes.

So this week, I’m asking you: wake up. Get serious. Let the fire of Christ burn away your apathy. Go to Confession. Pick up your Bible. Rebuild your marriage. Forgive that person you’ve hated for too long. Pray with your children. Be bold. Be alive. Be holy.

Because one day — maybe sooner than we think — we’ll hear our name called, and there’ll be no more time to choose. Choose Him now.

Let’s stop playing church. Let’s start being disciples.

Blessings,

Deacon Mike
