Candlemas Candle Blessing

Following morning Masses (8AM and 10:30AM) on Sunday, February 5th, candles for religious use will be blessed as part of the "Candlemas" tradition on the Feast of the Presentation! There will be a LIMITED number of candles for sale to be blessed, so bring candles from home to be blessed as well

About the Event
Candlemas is an ancient feast that has developed over the centuries in tandem with the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus on February 2. The celebration of this event was considered connected to Christmas, although taking place far after the liturgical season ended. Blessing candles while reciting the Canticle of Simeon entered into this traditional practice in later centuries in the West.
A blessed candle at home is a powerful Catholic Sacramental. The candle’s light symbolizes Our Lord Jesus Christ the “Light of the World”. As such, blessed candles are a great symbol to light as your family engages in prayer together!
So, we are bringing back the Holy Family tradition of candle blessing! This February 5th, after the 8AM and 10:30AM masses, a special blessing will be offered over both the candles being sold (!LIMITED STOCK!) and those you bring with you. Take advantage of this great opportunity to bring Christ's light more fully into your home and your family prayer.
